Topic(s): Association of Cardiovascular Nursing & Allied Professions Cardiovascular Nursing
Overview
¨Patient engagement, defined as a partnership between patients and healthcare professionals, is now considered as a key strategic objective of the ESC and an important factor in achieving its core mission to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease. There is increasing recognition of the need for and benefits of meaningfully involving patients across a broad range of ESC activities. Given that patients are the experts on what it means to experience heart disease there is much to be learned by listening to their perspectives. It is these unique patient insights, combined with collective professional expertise, that add value. The ESC Patient Forum, established in 2018, brings together patients from across Europe. Each participant brings a wealth of personal experience of living with a cardiovascular condition. Increasing patient engagement provides a potentially potent mechanism for improving the development and implementation of scientific evidence, improving patient outcomes and supporting more effective self-management. This webinar will explore the recent history, process and potential benefits of enhanced patient engagement in the context of current ESC activity.
